She became an AMP member at her campus chapter in 2018, and is very excited to now be serving as Chair on the Systemwide Steering Committee. Chair-ElectMichael Daniel AustinUC Riverside Past-Chair Mark LucasUCLAMark Lucas currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer for the Departments of Neurobiology and of Computational Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Mark has been with the University for over 25 years in a variety of administrative and management capacities, including stints in the Department of Medicine Finance Office, as MSO of General Internal Medicine, and as Business Director for the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has a background in business from both USC (fight on!) and UCLA Anderson. He is currently Chair of the UCLA AMP chapter and Chair Elect of the UC Systemwide AMP. TreasurerYvette Obando UC San DiegoYvette is the Chief Administrative Officer of Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego. With 20 years of experience working at UCSD, Yvette brings a plenitude of knowledge in contract and grants with a focus on academic administration and departmental management. Along with her extensive background in management, Yvette interfaces with various training committees and is currently the Division of Social Sciences (DSS) Summer Session Representative, a DSS Enterprise Systems Renewal (ESR) Divisional Lead, and a Financial Information Systems Change Network Lead. Yvette has been collaborating with UC AMP for 2 years as Treasurer and enjoys being part of a UC System-Wide committee. Yvette graduated from UC, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. Historian Shanley MillerUC San DiegoShanley is currently the MSO for three academic units at UCSD; Department of Sociology, Latin American Studies Program and African and African-American Studies Research Center. She works with an excellent staff to manage all aspects of the units including student affairs, facilities, academic personnel and fiscal operations. Future goals include finally convincing Facilities Management to install zip lines between buildings on campus. She manages all things budget, HR and space for the Arts departments, the rules and policy person amongst amazing creative passion. She has been at UC Davis for more than 30 years and is looking forward to retirement in a few years when she will spend more time on her own creative pursuits! Her bachelor’s degree is in Organizational Leadership which has equipped her with decision-making, communication, conflict and change management, team building and development skills. Lorrie has been with UCI since 2001, prior to her employment at UCI, Lorrie managed the corporate accounting office for a national franchise of automotive service stations in 19 states and provided oversight of information technology systems used in the business office. Amy Ruth UC Irvine UCLA Patty JohnsonUCLAPatty serves as the Sr. Manager of Academic Services & Operations for the Full Time MBA Program at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Patty has worked at Anderson for over 20 years in various capacities. In her current role, Patty works primarily with faculty and administration on academic planning and scheduling. Patty is a first-gen college student, she graduated from UCLA in 1999 with a degree in Psychology and a specialization in Business Administration. She is a graduate of the Riordan Scholars Program (’02) and holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from CSUN (’18). Patty is passionate about personal and professional growth and when she is not spending time with her husband and three young children, she is reading or taking online classes to learn new skills. She is excited to help bring her knowledge and ideas for programming to AMG and build upon the current offerings. PalenciaUC Santa BarbaraAfter completing a tour in Iraq with the Marine Corps, Boris studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While there, he became the President of the Student Veteran Organization, which received two awards for their veteran advocacy: The UC President’s Award for Outstanding Student Organization and UCSB’s Leslie Griffin Lawson Outstanding President Leadership Award. He received a B.A. in Economics and Accounting as part of the first graduating class from the Economics department. After graduating from UCSB, Boris began a career as an accountant, quickly working his way up within the Extramural Funds Department at his alma mater. He is currently the Business Officer at the UCSB Admissions department, a volunteer with the Dream Foundation and a Rotaract member. Boris also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business and lives with his wife and son in Santa Barbara, CA. M. Alex has worked in many different areas of University administration from organized research to managing academic departments including the Environmental Studies Program and the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability. He is currently Assistant Dean, College Administrative Officer, for the College of Letters & Science. His experience ranges from project management, development & training, financial administration, and is Lean Six Sigma certified. Alex is an avid triathlete and marathon runner. He has completed 7 marathons, countless triathlons, and has competed in the Vineman 70.3 Ironman in Santa Rosa, CA. He lives in Santa Barbara, CA with his partner, Hugh, and their portuguese water dog, Bogie. Amber was welcomed to the engineering division as of October 2019, though she joined the UC Santa Cruz community as a proposal analyst in 2016. Her experience before UC Santa Cruz includes ten years of experience coordinating and managing social services administration, programs, and events. The things that excite Amber about her ongoing work at UC Santa Cruz are continuing to learn, serving fellow staff through community-building activities, streamlining administrative services, and contributing to an inclusive, vibrant, and friendly community. Outside of work, Amber enjoys mountain biking, building models, and reading a wide range of fiction.
